Hello everyone. I'm an American, living in southwest Germany for 3 years now. Just found this great site!
Although I have been owned by Dalmatians for 12 years, I do love the Weims, and would like to have one some day. Really like the LH!
My Dallie Bear is an 11-yr old rescue from Ohio in the US. She's a real sweetie. She's slowing down these days, but still loves her daily romps in field and forest.
Anyway, I'll be looking to have a Weim in my family one of these days; always interested in Rescue dogs first, although puppies are hard to resist.
Cheers, all. Barb

WELCOME TO THE BOARD BARB AND JACKIE!
We have a number of members on the board here who work with rescue, so when you get ready to look at rescues, be sure to ask here first. I'm sure you'll find just the one that is a perfect match for you(LOL, or maybe even more than one).
I think it is great that people give up so much of their time, effort and contributions to rescue. My thanks goes out to everyone who does.

Barb,
Very welcome from Holland as well. And yes Wetdog I totally agree (weim) rescue is really a great thing to do, especially because it takes a lot of time and effort!!!
And ofcourse good luck, hope you find a really nice weim, in your home country I know they also have weimrescue in different states and weimclubs. And ofcourse here in Europe as well. The future (rescue) weim seems to be getting to a really nice home.

Thank you all for the hearty welcome! I have a couple of questions about the forums. I tried to post something on the Health forum but was told I didn't have permission for that...why is that? It was just a question about the use of heartworm preventative in Europe. I also couldn't post this question on the Administrative forum.
Whatis the different status of members? How does one go from baby to junior to veteran, etc?
And, my thought for the day - I think that Weims and Dalmatians are very similar in many ways. I've been active in Dal rescue since all the Disney movies led disreputable breeders to breed from greed. Dals and Weims are the cutest puppies of any breeds (I think!), but they both grow up to be very smart and active dogs that ill-informed people can't handle; that's why rescue is so important to me.
So, I will definitely come here first when I'm ready for a little Weimie brother (puppy or rescue) for Bear!
Thanks again. Cheers. Barb
