WOW, that is wonderful! I assume microchips are available over there, but are they used like they are here?(US) I could imagine it might be difficult with some many seperate countries.

A great amount of volunteers in Warsaw were involved in searching ARBAT. There were many announcements around the place, where he was kidnapped and in all places, where he "was seen". There were news on radio and local TV. One group of volunteers came from the board, that Irena has quoted in her post: www.tchiorny.net. The admin of that board is an owner of the black terrier kennel called "Van Dog". Someone called him that a dog like the missing one had been seen nearby the Trakt Lubelski street. He and his friends went there and they were looking for a dog for a few hours! After these long hours they finally found him in a good form although the dog was slightly confused. You can imagine how biiiiiiiiiiiiig was the joy of the dog and his owners! Like in an American film with happy end! Ups, I have tears in my eyes again...

Wow, thank you, that is amazing!!!! And again, it was to a great extent thanks to the Internet that it was possible to summon so many helpers and make so many other people aware of it. I'm so glad they found Arbat, I have tears in my eyes too. Such a happy ending. Thanks to ALL our Polish colleagues.

Yup, we do chip here, it may not be VERY popular yet, but it will be a requirement soon to travel to other EU countries, so I think most new litters are chipped. However, I guess you'd still need to FIND the dog first to be able to scan him. BTW, when you do scan the dog, at least here, you only see a long sequence of digits that make pretty much no sense. You need to have access to a database to determine who the dog's owner is, and that is not always possible, I was told!!!
