Hi all, Wouldn't it benifit the forum if we send our "congratulation-posts" as a private message to the person(s) whom it may concern. It has become a bit boring that for every new post with relevant information there is a stream of posts with only congratulations...

Mhhh... I really can see your point of view, but... I don't think these messages are boring at all... There are people that participate with enthusiasm to dog shows and are proud if there dog wins or gets a good score...they put the time into the dogs to train them etc... Other people see this and know how hard it can be to raise a good show dog and congratulates the winner/proud owner... Also some people are following the results of other breeders/dog owners they know but live to far of them to keep contact outside "The Net"... End of story.... If you don't want to read these messages, you still got your scroll button on your mouse or the page down button on your keyboard... THEN USE IT/THEM in stead of getting bored... everybody needs a compliment...even on a forum...especially on a DOG forum... Hope you see my point of view also....

Hi Peter, Just read your personal message to me with extra info... I must say that you have a point also... If the constant flow of congrats is driving people away from the forum then it's time to do something about it. Perhaps it would be best to send personal messages....or to have a grater number of messages that we can preview...(50 instead of 25)... But I can understand that many users like to congratulate their fellow Weimy owners with the results that they have in shows or other trails and that it's fun to have many congrats messages as a response to a message that has been posted... What is the opinion of the rest of the forum users? It's been very quiet regarding your mail Peter, I'm the only one that reacted... So group...What do you think about this?

Is it possible to stop people to congratulate? The stream of congratuations is natural. It is normal forum users behaviour. The forum is to COMMUNICATE, isn't it? ;D

I understand what Peter want to say, but I think its because we don't have many other topics these days in the forum, that this came up to discussion. Of course, a forum is for communication, so I personal think you can not banden compliments to other members. Better would be that the topics were more variously, so no one need to get bored ! So members, please try to post new topics !

I understand what Peter is saying, but I also think it would be boring when if you have to tell some results you have made and then do not get an answer in the topic itselve. And it is nice if you get some answers/congrats to! Lately indeed there are not many other posts then brags and congrats that is true

I agree, congratulation-posts is normal forum users behaviour. The forum is to COMMUNICATE,

I was mostly talking about the one-liners, but like I said it was just an idea...

it would be nice if we could all post something that we are doing at the moment even if its just training or preparation work I know at the moment with puppies to train I am looking for ideas on how and what other people do to prepare their dogs for the various tests and competitions, which tests to do and when, training methods used, tricks of the trade so to speak its always nice to know what works and what doesn't. I'll be happy to give an update on what I am doing at the moment and would love to have some input from everyone else I still have so much to learn and am sure to make alot of mistakes so would appreciate a sharing of knowledge. I did post a question but no one answered - very disappointed. euroweims.proboards44.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=puppy&thread=2910&page=1I can understand the frustration with reading posts where only congratulations are given but they too have their place.

I can see what you are saying but there are 43 subject links on this Web Page with different subjects going. Peter get a conversation going which is of interest to you if the congrats are boring and stay out of the Obedience, Trial, Past Events etc because these are of course going to have people on here posting there results and receiving the congrats they deserve

Peter--if you go to the bottom of the opening page, you will find a link that will get you the 25 most recent posts. If is easier to skip through what is being said where by going down the list. When you see a post that interests you and you want to see more of the thread, just click on the title of the thread at the top of the post.
I hope that helps. I think we all feel the same way as you do---sometimes we just want to get to the meat of the conversations.
