Hi
I was walking my dogs last night in the paddocks and I know this is not about a Weimaraner. My Vizsla came skipping out of the grass and their was something on her back, and she flung her head around and was trying to push something off her back, their was a spider, about the size of a 1p in body size and it look to be attached to her skin, she pushed it off and I tried to find it in the grass, anyway the area has a huge lump this morning.
Any suggestions as to what I could put on this bite ? I did not know spiders would bite in the UK? Has anyone had this in the UK before ?

Thanks Tasha will have a look at the links. The lump is about the size now of a large marble, not quite as large as this morning. Going down but its very hard the lump. I am so glad it never was on my daughter as you would of heard her scream the other side of the world ha ha. Scarlett is well in herself, just has a nasty lump where it bit her.

Rachel, I am allergic to spider bites so I am very happy Scarlett is doing well! You can take warm, clean water and add baking soda, a clean cloth and soak the wound site, the baking soda will help decrease the swelling and draw out the poison. If you know what yarrow is, make a tea and also apply that tea with a clean cloth to decrease swelling and take any pain away, use the soda and water first, then the yarrow. Hoping that is all that happens...Cheryl

Tea is good for spider bites, indeed. I tried it on my dog (which also got bitten by a spider) and it seemed like that was the cure.

Spiders are creepy. I think I would die if I was bitten by a spider even if it's not poisonous.
