Hello. My name is Kim - I live in Bermuda and have been the owner of an adorable and active weimaraner puppy for just over two months. He was bred in the UK but is now enjoying island life. This is the first weimaraner I have ever owned and it has definitely been interesting but I wouldn't trade Sebastian for anything ;D
Definitely look forward to getting to know you all and getting some much-needed advice - especially with training!
Bye for now! Kim and Sebastian

Hello Kim. It's nice to have you join us---I think you are our first member in Bermuda.
How is the training going?

Thanks everyone for your kind welcomes! Training hasn't been going so well, unfortunately. Sebastian obeys basic commands at home but seems to forget everything in obedience class. I'm determined to keep working with him; we'll get it eventually (I hope!). I have loads of questions, but I'll post them in the relevant forums.

Consistency is the key. Once you have trained something in one place you need to take it to every room in the house, into the garden and to other strange places. Training classes are just as much for the owners as the dogs. It is good socialisation for the dogs in class but there are a lot of distractions so don't expect too much. Have you heard of clicker training? It is not only good fun for the dogs it but it wears them out mentally. A Weimaraner needs to use his brain so mind games are good. Here are a few links that might help you: www.clickertraining.com/basicswww.learningaboutdogs.com/html/getting_started.htmlwww.wagntrain.com/OC/GetStarted.htm
