Mr Wetdog was forwarded this email last month and I thought I'd post it here (with his permission)

My name is Mara Bovsun and I am an author who has just been assigned a book with Allan Zullo -- "Amazing But True Dog Tales" to be published by Andrews-McMeel. This is a companion piece to "Mews Items: Amazing but True Cat Tales," published last spring. I am looking for stories in several categories about amazing dogs. If you or someone you know would like to tell your dog's story, please let me know. These are the basic categories, but we're interested in hearing about any ABT dog:
1- Hero Dogs, there are almost too many of these to count, dogs being who they are, but if you know of anyone whose dog has saved a life -- canine, feline, human or otherwise -- or caught a killer or a crook, etc., fought off a rattlesnake, detected cancer or other disease....
2- Naughty Dogs, the Jack Russell who swallowed the steak knife and survived, the border collie who flooded the basement, the Lab who ate 18 golf balls, the Lab who ate the wedding ring, the Lab who ate the table leg, the Lab who ate the..., well, I live with a Lab, you get the idea....
3- Never Say Die Dogs, the ones who refuse to give up, on life or humans, no matter what is done to them. These are the abandoned, abused dogs, the ones dumped in kill shelters who somehow hold on and become the love of someone's life. There are many of these, so we're looking for dogs who make a major difference in a person's life -- prevented a suicide, rescued them from a poisonous snake, etc.
4- Weird Puppies, the beagle who fell in love with a duck, the one who walks on his front legs, the two legged herding dog, etc. Ones with odd habits, hobbies, like the bulldog who rides a jetski, etc.
5- Funny Dogs, they do something that makes us laugh.
If you could forward this message to dog lovers you know, I'd appreciate it. The best way to reach me is via e-mail at St1angel@aol.com.
Best regards,
Mara Bovsun
