Hi all,
I need an urgent help with animal rights in EU: where should animal lovers and owners appeal for the innormous situation?
First. All dog and cats owners pay taxes to the government, but: a) there are no places for a walk b) it is forbidden to take your dog in a public place (street, square, any event) - there are no areas for taking your pet out! c) if you gather your pet's feaces, you cannot throw it in a public trashbins, cause it's unhigienic ( they offer to take the feaces home and then throw it into the toilet), but there are no special trashbins for it! d) one of the biggest city has accepted the rule, that anyone who is taking the dog out, must have it's passport and healthbook!!!! e) all the dogs except toy breeds must be walked out with muzzles f) where do the taxes for keeping a pet go?
I think Lithuanian pet lovers could write a petition and apply to the EU responsible agencies. These rules are absolutely enormous.
Does anyone know where to apply with petitions?
Thanks in advance!

Yikes. Does your Kennel Club have a public affairs department to promote the rights of dogs and their owners? Here is something which our KC set up in 2006, it's called KC Dog: Essentially it's a national dog owners group, a Kennel Club initiative that has been established to help dog owners protect themselves by; keeping participants informed about local policies that may affect their rights, assisting participants in lobbying at a local level and keeping participants updated about KC Dog activity across the country Here are some links which may be useful: www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/295www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1237

Thanks Daniela! The thing is that our Kennel Club is very...mm ignorant. They say, that all governmental rules are accepted without their comments or advises. The Club doesn't have a good PR specialist, what they do is only shows...

Well, looking at the bigger picture, there won't be any shows to licence unless someone is willing to lobby.
Do you have a local minister whom you can write to? There is a KC Dog group on Facebook, it is geared up to us over here but there are a lot of members (a lot more politically minded than me!) who maybe able to advise you on a way forward.

If you are already on Facebook, just type in KC Dog in the search engine and it will bring the group up.

I think you are living in an not dog friendly country? So many rules, paying taxes and no place to run with your dog. Pity!
