This post may of been put on many forums before but this week I was reading through the Weimaraner club of America and read their part on health where DNA samples are required from dogs. So I contacted Dr Noa and she has replied saying they are interested in getting hold of DNA samples from dogs with HOD.
If anyone has a dog with HOD a pet even as it does not have to be just breeders from the UK or anywhere in the world. Contact Dr Noa.
This text below she has given permission to link to anyone or any forum. So pass it on to those people who you think it would help.
New research in the area of genetic disease in the Weimaraner breed is gearing up at the Veterinary Genetic Laboratory (VGL) in the University of California, Davis. This project is lead by Noa Safra DVM PhD, a Weimaraner breeder and WCA member since 1996. The goal of this research is the discovery of DNA markers for multiple Weimaraner inherited diseases.
The success of this project is directly related to the number and quality of DNA samples provided for research. We implore all Weimaraner enthusiasts, worldwide, to participate in this unique opportunity to advance the health and wellbeing of the breed so dear to all of us.
Samples from any Weimaraner with either a definitive or suspected genetic condition will be considered. Please do not hesitate to contact me with regard to any condition you may have experienced. Confidentiality is assured.
