Hi everyone,
The Weimaraner Club of GB Rescue Section are trying to raise money to keep our rescue going. We are holding a raffle to be drawn at our Championship Dog Show 2006. We have some nice prizes already but if anyone has any ideas on who I can write/e mail to ask for donations of prizes I would be most grateful. So far I have written around 25 letter to companies but only a handful have replied.
All ideas/ offers of help gratefully accepted.
Thanks Lynn

I am sure Royal Canin would supply a prize seeing as the Taylors "Wassermusik" are the show reps for RC.......

Nintendo has launched a new dog game called Nintendogs. They had a launch party a couple of weeks back so they may be worth a shot!
Wegman World may have some merchandise they can donate, perhaps?
Morphy Richards, I think launched a new vacuum cleaner specialising in picking up pet hair. They are worth a try.
It's probably worth having a look through canine publications, to see which companies are trying to aim at the pet market. It won't necessarily be dog food companies either. I am sure anyone trying to get a product out there in the pet industry/ or to attract dog lovers would consider donating to the raffle.
Try looking at the back of a Crufts catalogue for some trade stand contacts too - that should give you some ideas!
Hope this helps.
If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

Hi Lynn
Do you have a deadline for this?
Only, you could probably get great more donations in 2006 especially if you keep an eye out for companies advertising/launching new products in the new year.
It's good publicity for them especially if the launch of their product coincides with the time and/or year of the raffle.

Another thing....LOL
Why not contact the camino publishers and see whether you get a copy or two of the Weimaraner Champions, 1995-2004 recently published?
I have a contact address for them if you would like it.

and another thing..... If you are struggling, as an incentive, why not offer a little advert or some kind of promotional text in the WCGB newsletters/catalogues/schedules about their products in return for donations... A kind of, you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours...

I'm starting to gather momentum..... Does the WCGB website carry online advertising? I was thinking you could perhaps offer any potential big donators a free web banner on the website. This could be for a small period of time say. If you have a lot of traffic coming to the website this should definitely interest them.

Wow Daniela just brill ideas...... The club doesnt have ads on their website and I dont think they would allow that. I havent heard of the Nintendo thingy nor the Hoover... any address where I can write appreciated. I have already written to loads of companies that use weims in ads and dog food companies etc. Only about 25% of those I wrote to have replied. most of those saying they cant help. Does anyone have an address for smirnoff vodka as they used a weim loads. I have donationsof food from Eukanuba and Nutro but no replies from any others. Thanks Alison I didnt know that the taylors were reps for Royal Canin. Maybe I will try and see them at Scotland if they are there. We dont have a deadline as such but tickets are hopefully going out with the winter newsletter. the draw is taking place in September 2006 at the champ show. You are brill folks. Keep the ideas coming all help appreciated... Also if anyone has experience of running a raffle of this sort please do share your expertise with me as this is a first for me....lol Lynn

Hi Lynn
In all cases, if you haven't already, I would try writing to the PR manager or Marketing Department of these companies.
I can get you the adresses for the vacuum cleaner and Nintendogs, I will have a look for those and PM them to you.
As for the smirnoff address, this should be on the internet somewhere?

What about a quilt like they do in the States? Each of those interested could do a square of a certain size, send them to someone who either does or gets them sewn together, and then quilted. The squares could have a Wei theme, ones from OS would usually have something about where they are from. I'd do one. One-off, hand made, worth a mint. Sell tickets over the net. Wendy

I have a ceramic hand-painted statue that I could donate to your cause. I can e-mail pics of it. It is of a flying pheasant and a weim head. It is really nice looking and it would not be that much for me to send it to you from the states. Please let me know if you would like pictures of it. Here, they sell for about $125 US. I am not sure what that 'translates' to in your currency. Just let me know if this type of item would interest you. Thanks! Melissa
