It is midnight here and I just got back from the Vaya Con Dios concert in Riga.... I first heard a song by Dani Klein/Vaya Con Dios in 1994. I was a 16 year old kid back then, and said to myself, "wow, this sounds very interesting, I wonder who that is...." It took me a YEAR to find out, quite accidentally, who that was. And I became a fan. Back then, I could NEVER even dream of possibly going to their concert. Later on, I would have travelled, but I didn't know of any gigs they did. So I waited for 10 years. And this August my friend told me, "By the way, Vaya Con Dios are coming to Riga in November". I could not believe it, and when I really saw the tickets on sale that night, I bought mine immediately. I was so afraid the concert would get cancelled or something.... And yet tonight it happened - I saw Dani Klein and her "Vaya Con Dios" for the first time in my life. My MOST FAVOURITE female singer in the world. Really, all I can say is WOW. I knew when I parked my car that life will never be the same again when I come back out after two hours. And that was exactly how I felt as I was brushing the snow off the windshield after the concert...... As if an eternity had passed, and something very, very important had happened. Tonight, another MAJOR dream of my life came true, and I will never forget this evening. Their website is at www.vayacondios.info if anyone cares to see and listen to the sound/video clips.

You love your music Irena! I love my music too, it's a great passion of mine. Nothing beats the feeling of a great concert. I remember feeling that way when I first saw Coldplay back before they really hit the big time. They really blew me away and I was on a real high after the concert. I also saw them again this Summer and just to make things even more atmospheric, there was a storm complete with thunder and lightening which really lit up the open air stadium. We got soaked but we didn't care!! I also went to a festival this year in London's Hyde Park and saw an array of great artists. We had a fantastic time lazing around in beautiful surroundings listening to bands blast out their hits.....! Can't wait to go again next year! I am also toying with the idea of doing Glastonbury but I think they are having a rest next year, so the land can 'recover'.

You love your music Irena! That is an understatement.... There are a lot of singers and bands I really like, but really only two that I'd go absolutely out of my way to see. It's like, if they're playing, I AM GOING!!!! It is not always "sane" (like going to Germany (1500 km each way) to see Bryan Ferry on the Roxy Reunion Tour in 2001), but it is sure worth every trouble. Heck, it IS no trouble. I am glad you were able to see your favourite bands too, that is such an awesome feeling, isn't it. Glastonbury was on last summer while I was there, I remember everyone running off to watch it on TV. ;D Muse played there too, and one of the band member's father died during the festival (but they played nevertheless, I think). Tonight I'm spiritually in Vilnius, Lithuania where Vaya Con Dios are playing, and at least one other Weim lover (from Latvia) is there right now in person. I told her to clap her hands as hard as she can for me too. As you can see, I still haven't quite descended to Earth...

.....LOL Irena, this is turning into something of a music forum but I share your enthusiasm. There are a lot of singers and bands I really like too. I see nothing wrong with travelling to another country to see a band - many of us do it for a dog show so it's no different in my eyes. I am lucky that I can get to see many of the bands I like here but I would travel overseas to see a band/singer without a doubt. This year's Coldplay concert was just a 30 minute drive away from my house I heard about the band member's dad. That's sad and must have taken a lot to continue. I would love to see Pink Floyd. I would love to have seen them at Live 8, my friend who won tickets, told me they were out of this world.

He he he, well, beautiful dogs and beautiful music go well together in my book. ;D Yup, I agree, it is just like travelling to another country for a dog show.... Actually so far I've managed to combine the two - see both the concerts AND see/meet Weims.... Pink Floyd must be super cool!!

Music. I had such a misspent youth, usually dancing in front of the speakers, I have hearing loss! I have seen, not in any order, :-XMelissa Ethridge , k. d. lang, :-XChicago, Rod Stewart, Status Quo, The Beach Boys, Joan Armatrading, Meat Loaf, Chuck Berry, The Pointer Sisters, I'm sure there are more I have forgotten. Then there are the Aussie bands, Dragon, Air Supply, Sherbet, Hush, The Angels, John Paul Young, The Seekers, Marcia Hines.........sorry, got carried away. Most of those ones you wouldn't have heard of. Memories!!! Wendy, suddenly feeling so much older.

Most of those ones you wouldn't have heard of. He he he, I SURE have.... I absolutely love the few songs I know by K.D. Lang (Constant Craving.....), and I sure like Meat Loaf... Now where's Maree, didn't she like Meat Loaf too, or was she just joking.... I think they won some kind of an award in 1994 for the "worst song of the year" - "I Would Do Anything For Love" - but I sure thought that was a wonderful song. ;D I have a whole album by them and I love it. P.S. As for feeling old, when I graduated from school in 1997, we were at the graduation party listening to our favourite "Prodigy" songs and someone said, "imagine some day we'll all be old crabs sitting somewhere remembering The Prodigy as "golden 90's".... Well, working for 5 years as a middle school teacher almost made me feel that way sometimes!!! I realized I was so behind.... ;D

I believe Keith Flint lead singer of the Prodigy has two Weimaraners.... I also remember dancing around to them at roughly the same age.....! ;D They are doing some concerts at the moment here!

LMAO-----WENDY!!!! I graduated in 1967, so I remember all, well most of the ones you mention. LOL, The Seekers!!!(hey, rummaging around the bottom of the box now, but I liked "Another You" very much too, although we here wondered since there were so many sheep in Australia if they hadn't spelled it wrong and that it should be "Another Ewe"). The Beach Boys--yup, grew up with them. Chuck Berry--now lives in Wentzville Missouri,(near St. Louis) and owns the Colonial Restaruant--a GREAT place to go for fried chicken and MoTown music. Irena has sent me songs by Bryan Ferry and Vaya Con Dios and I really like them too. Meanwhile, I've introduced her to Marty Robbins and Willie Nelson. We need to all get on MSN Messenger and exchange some of the music we like together. Anyone want to do that?

Hi Irena As we appear to like some the same kind of music, try the Antony and the Johnsons..... Here is a link to their song 'Hope there's someone' www.theworldofadam.com/hope.htmlSomeone told me about them at the weekend. Had never heard of them until then, and then oddly enough the next morning, Eden trod on the TV remote and on came their music video. Well done Eden, I am now a fan
