Me and my boyfriend are planning a trip to NZ in September. We're going for a full month. I've got all the books, but it's kinda confusing. There is so much to do and see there. What would you recommend. And if there are hunters replying, what is the best place to go hunting?

Hi Marjolein, Awesome! I hope you both have a brilliant time here!! What are you interested in doing?? I recommend Queenstown, Milford sound and if you are in to wine - Blenheim! But everywhere is great!! My partner and I are mixed animal vets in Southland so you are welcome to come stay with us and our weims - no idea what we will be up too dog wise in september as im sure we will be busy at work! The Northern Weim club are having their specialty show combined with the National dog show up in Feilding end of September if you would like to see some weims showing (i think it will only be shorthairs). I would suggest emailing the secretary from our club (The Weimaraner Club) as there would probably be a lot of weim people down here keen to have you to stay and show you around. Blimey, I've been a vet tech in a mixed practice for 16 years now.... Have been to Australia twice and visited a vet practice in Hobart. Was pretty cool. Would love to come and see how you lot work on the other side of the world!!!!
Anyway, I'm really into nature. I like cities, but what I really like to do best is hiking. I just love the nature. I'd already read something about Blenheim, yes, I'm into wine, LOL!!!!!!!
Thanks for the advice so far, but I'm sure we'll stay in touch!!!!!

No problem. Wow - 16 years, I just started working for a large mixed animal practice (13 vets, 3 vet techs) at the beginning of this year which I'm loving. I think things are quite different between NZ and Europe... probably because large animal work here is very seasonal.
If you like outdoors i would suggest Routeburn or Heaphy tracks - i haven't done either yet but my work mates tell me they are fantastic. I have done the Northern Circle around the central plateau which was absolutely brilliant. Also have been told by heaps of people that the 'Otago rail trail' is great fun (3 days cycling the old gold rush trails) - Ed and I are hoping to go when the weather picks up a bit (been quite bitterly cold recently).
Anyways if you need any help or would like to come visit don't hesitate to give us a bell. All the best with your trip planning.
Cheers
Rachael
