Yesterday after dropping Robert and Havana at the hunttest where Chendo also was, I went with Homer and King to the TAN organized by the Belgian Weimaranerclub. It was my first one to attend, I had a great day, met some old and made some new friends.
Homer didn't run at all, so ofcourse he didn't pass. King was into it and did pass, so Prince Charming came through:-) Before the test I was sure that it would be the other way around, luckely I didn't bet with anyone:-) My both boys did behave great together spooning together in one bench.

Congratulations on King's excellent job! Pitty for Homer, as I believe he can do it also splendid! Fingers crossed for next time I've heard some rumours, that the judge was veeeeery strict (actually: too strict!), and that among cca 26 dogs entered, only 4 have passed the test. Allegro's son Grey Classic's Got It All - "Hektor" was among those 4 that passed, so we are very proud at him and Marta who is doing a great job with him! Congratulations! Allegro's daughter Grey Classic's Gotta Kick Azz - "Lolita" didn't make an honour to her name this time, as she wasn't lucky enough to make it between the "4 mighty ones"... but we are looking forward to see her on her next exames, as she has a great potential. Congratulations to Anik for investing so much in Lolita, her time will certainly come. Here's one newest photo of her, my favourite one: Best regards, Kristina

Thank you all again for many nice words. Thanks Eva for the nice pics and the video David made, it was really great to have had you with us. I donĀ“t have a reference about previous years the TAN was done. But the comments I heard were the following. -Judge normally only judges high level open class competition and judged comparable this TAN. Normally it's differently judged; -Normal it's a small, square field, now it was bigger and a ' stoppelveld'. -the quails were on this flat field, so the young dogs would easily be temped to attack and retrieve them (or run away)with teh quails, if this happened you wouldn't have passed. And we all started around 11-11:30 so on the hottest moment of the day. Hereby a small impression of just one of the dogs, Prince Charming .

To answer to everybody :
We have judged tha TAN like it has to be and much less strictly as normal and has it will be when it becomes official next year or maximum 2 yearsn thus always with official judges and anymore with non judges.
The "Weimies" have a sight on the proofs that is a little bit transformed and maked easy. That's not the reality. That's why I wanted to organize an open TAN with others breeds. In order that people can see other breeds on the fields and judge by an official for the credibility of a real TAN.
For the results : on 22 dogs entered : 9 have succeeded to the TAN, but if judged like a normal TAN and in respecting all the rules, only 4 will have it. Those who have a complete point and action (The action = the search for birds, showing passion and a minimum of quest + a complete point is taking emanation following by a pointing of minimum 30 seconds, the dog is waiting for his driver and the driver can serve the dog, by flying the bird and shoot, th dog is not shy ) : 1 weimy : Hike des Brumes des Bois, 2 German Shorthairs, 1 Epagneul Breton and 1 Cesky Fuzek. All the 5 others have a non complete action and point. So if the TAN was official or passed for eg in France, this 4 would have not succeeded. All the explanations will be written in the following club mag.
For all the other dogs, sorry, it is not our fault if the dogs have not succeeded : lack of passion, no knowledge of game, no idea of what he has to do on the field, only walking without looking for game, and a lot of dog have no instinct of pointing : if taking emanation, immidiately, they wanted to catch the bird and kill it, without waitning for their driver and that is totally forbidden in the rules. The weimy is a pointing dog and he has to respect the game and work for his driver and not for himself.
Also lot of wrong things : We have begun at 11.00 (always like that when a field here in Belgium because the wind is not regularly before) and it was not the warmest. I have passed my dog at 13.00 and the president of the Epagneul Breton, just after me and we have stopeed at that time, during the warmest till 2.30pm. All peopla have had the same conditions : warm all the day but a regularly and constant wind, so that the dogs can have good emanations and also the birds can well flight. As game there were quails and partridges. All dogs have several chances on birds because several birds per dog were forecast.
If a dog has succeeded, please, ask you the right questions : why ? and please have a look on the other dogs that have done a good job without any problem and difficulties and compare with your run, your dog, ... It is not the fault of the judge but well on the training, lack of training, ignorance of game , or the rules, the motivation of the dog, ... A minimum is required for a TAN.
And for next year, please train correctly your dogs, more for pointing and less time for the retrieve and we will be happy to give you the TAN.
If you want a eg : my little Hike, is only training for pointing and has the mimimum bases of obedience + a perfect recall. That's all I ask to a yound dog. The retreive I work it only after the dog is 2 years old when the pointing is well learned and acquired, not before. Hike has a natural retrieve when hunting but I have not worked it. Tne german shorthair I present, is trained like that, younger than Hike, and has no natural retrieve. I will work it with her next year. That's the good way of working with a pointing dog.
best regards.

Thank you Eleonore for explaining for those who were not there. Now I know you can be proud when you passed the TAN in Belgium. Just like i told, the last year was a piece of cake. Wished I knew about the new set-up earlier so Autumn could be judged again. Greetings Natasja
