Hi
we have a 'problem', when Kobi was little she used to jump up to everybody, including us, we solved that. but from the moment she hears a car comming up the drive she runs to the gate, I don't mind that!!, when I open the gate she jumps up to visitors and it's so hard to calm her down, she just goes a little crazy! I want her to learn to great people calmly but I don't now how, I've tried so many ways and I don't want to put her on her leash eachtime, but you can imagine that when my mom comes to visit in a white outfit...

Hi Petra! Kobi sounds like a real bundle of joy. The most used and fool-proof method to stop an overexcited dog is to turn your back on it. Even if your guests don't manage a full turn, the best thing to do is to cross your arms and turn away and stay still for a while, like a "tree" When the dog calms down-- it eventually will, then you reward her with attention, treats and company. Another solution is to give Kobi a comand to "sit" which goes against "jumping" If Kobi knows her obedience training she will listen to you and do the command. But as I found out with my very boistrous and happy 7-month-old pup -- the most important tool in training is patience You have to do it over and over again, sometime for weeks before you see good and firm results! Good luck, keep us posted on how it goes. warm wishes, yana
