It is better to train with another kind of a dummy, because he doesn't catch this type correctly at the moment. The rest of the retrieving is just perfect! Congratulations!

Thank you guys for nice comments. Claire I'm happy that I could give you a bit of those positive emotions that Willy gives me every day on his lessons

That is the same type of dummy that everyone uses here for training their dogs. I don't think it would matter what Willy was retrieving as he looks so calm and controlled in his work. His Grandfather is a Retrieving Trial Champion (and a Grand Champion) and I have sent the video to his owner. Thanks for the wonderful video!

We also use waterproof dummies (like the orange one) for training. But it is not good with unexperienced and young dogs. Polish judges at our hunting trials pay attention to the way the retrieved object is kept in the muzzle. Retrieving must be balanced, a duck or pheasant must be caught "in the middle". It is absolutely not allowed to catch the bird's neck or wing, (or the end of a dummy). That's why the very first dummies should have a different construction, so as to teach the dog to catch it in the middle. Like this one: When the dog is taught to catch the dummy correctly, on can change the dummy to the "orange one".
