It can be a little difficult for people in Europe to get an idea of how BIG it is I think. Canada is larger than the US, and slightly over 1/2 the size of Russia.
LOL, don't plan on a walking tour.

HI, thanks for the messages.

We are really excited to be visiting Canada. We are travelling there on the 7th August, We land in Vancouver, pick up a hire car and we are staying in Gibsons in a B & B. We are hoping to visit relatives in Gibsons. I just wanted to ask what sort of weather can we expect? What are the gas prices like? Is it expensive or cheap to eat out? We will be eating out a lot of the time but we do have access to a BBQ and a small kitchenette. My hubby's mum visited Canada about 20 years ago and we have all the pictures. She visited Banff, Calgery, The Rockies etc, are they all within a reasonable driving time?

I do have lots more questions but I will leave them for a later date.

Lesley used to live right outside Banff---one of the most beautiful places in the world in my book, unfortunately, you'll be a LONG way from Banff.

However--it looks to me like you are going to be in an area where you will have MORE to see and do than you can possibly manage at one swoop!

I'd also recommend crossing over to the US and take in

Take some warm clothes, and wind breakers with hoods, it can get pretty chilly and windy on the Pacific shores or in the mountains even in the summer. You do best with things you can layer adding more or taking some off as conditions change(even as much as just a few minutes--just the sun going behind some clouds for a few minutes can make a huge difference.
Get yourself some good backpacks to stow jackets and rain suits in(definitely bring waterproof rain parka and pants--something like this www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/standard-pod.jsp?rid=&indexId=cat21172&navAction=push&navCount=2&cmCat=searchFeat&parentType=index&parentId=cat21172&id=0037534 ) A good belt pack with insulated water bottles are pretty handy.
