A compromise in the legislation has been achieved.
Tail docking is now ALLOWED on certain hunting breeds (which, as would be expected, will include the Weimaraner).
However, showing a docked dog (an animal whose appearance has been modified) has been prohibited, EXCLUDING 1) cases when a vet has authorized the operation, 2) hunting breeds mentioned in the law and 3) dogs whose country of origin allows docking.
As I am pro-choice, this seems like quite a logical conclusion they came to.
