Yes, absolutely (I posted asking about this earlier but the thread got lost somewhere)!

I just think that sponsors/donations won't really work, maybe Sylvia better set the subscription up so that you HAVE to pay to join and use it. (some realistic amount a year or per 6 months etc)
Donations seem like too vague a term, like "if you want to, you can do that, but if not, we'll be OK just the way we are", and I'm ashamed to admit I have not donated anything but a bit of info (whatever I had) to this database yet.

I'm just glad that Sylvia is helping us to keep the site going there is a financial need but I don't want to put people off using it as a facility which is why I would like it to remain a free resource. I personally would be happy to pay a subscription but am going to approach my breed club to ask for support and funding. I really do think that this benefits the whole breed and that as the clubs represent us as owner breeders that a small contribution would be beneficial for all. If all the clubs did the same then we would not need the subscription and people who may only use it once or twice rather than breeders who use it alot will still find it a value and not be put off by cost. There is also the currency and collection issue if its made subscription.

Do we have a person from each country who will be responsible for the data on the dogs for their area?? I know I am behind on the UK stuff but I've found someone else to help me so hopefully we will soon catch up.

This really is a fabulous resource it would be a pity to lose it after so much hard work has gone into it.

the best thing to do would be to contact Sylvia with your questions and offers to help, because she owns and runs the database and site. She has to deside.

I think it might be a good idea to contact the national weimaraner clubs to ask for a yearly contribution and also for help in obtaining data (litters, HD, results) for the database. I will try it for Belgium!

Its good to let our members know what's going on with these webpage, so we hope to get as much as possible support from all the members of this forum.
I think Sylvia will announce soon what she has decided.

I'm going to try for the UK and have put it onto the clubs next committee meeting agenda. There is a big drive by our Kennel Club to improve the breed especially where health is concerned and I really think that the Breed Club should be supporting such a global facility. Can someone approach the US club??
