My folks had a weim when I was a youngster. About all they remember was the kennel name she came from was Mission and they were located in the Flathead Lake area of Montana. I think the breeders name was Staves. This would be in the mid to late 50's.
I did a weim search on the weimaraner pedigree site and found a dog, Mission Frost Von Burg AKC S690606, that would be about the right age for my folks' dogs sire. They think the name rings a bell. I'm wondering if there is a way to figure out where that dog was kenneled or breed (no breeding recorded on weim pedigree site)
This is just a curiosity thing and not worth a great deal of time or effort. I thought it would be interesting is all. It would be fun to know if the line is still around.

John, you might try contacting AKC to see if they can help.
If you can't get any information from AKC, in the back of pedigree dog magazines in the classified section you will find people who do pedigree research and write up multi generation pedigrees for a fee. Perhaps one of those services could be of help.
Write down as much information as you can about the dog you are wanting to find information on, registered name, AKC #, date of birth etc.---anything you can find or remember. If you can find the AKC registration papers that would be best---if not, then as much info as you can assemble. For instance, there could not have been all that many breeders in Montana in the 50s----the breed was still brand new to the US. If you could come up with a name, you might be able to get some information by calling clubs or vets in the area. It is possible you could get lucky and find someone who remembers them.

Thanks wetdog. I don't have much info on mom and dads dog - they no longer have any of her paperwork. Looks like I'd probably have to find one of the research folks that have access to the old AKC books.

Johnh--------did your parents ever breed their dog? If so, perhaps you could get information on her if you could locate anyone who had a subsequent puppy or the breeding could be located in the AKC records. and trace backward.
