OMG can you believe this mating A member of our board has gone ahead and mated despite the fact that neither of the parents have been hip scored; neither are show champions, although the breeder seems to think that the sire is the perfect specimen of the breed. There is a definite over-bite with the male and the bitch has severe behaviour problems around season time. Also the bitch has very pale blue eyes. On the plus side they are both very good hunters. The breeder is a member of a Weimaraner Committee with very strict guidelines. I am quite amazed really.

Well, tbh, I'd rather have a proper working dog than a show champ. You know how I feel about hipscoring, it's the least you can do I think. Not that it gives any garantuees, but I think this should be an obligation. I don't really think that eye colour is very important either. Overshot, hmm, I wouldn't use him unless he was an outstanding hunter.

I am the breeder in question and I have no choice to agree with the comments made be Greyghost. We have indeed not followed the breeding guidelines. But with this combination we hope to produce excellent hunters! IMO (as Greyghost pointed out) the stud I have chosen is a "perfect specimen of the breed". It's true that he does have a bite problem, but his good qualities far out way the bad! As for the bitch: PMS is a common problem in the breed..hard to find a line without it here. As the stud lives with the bitch he is hoping that the whelping in November will even out her moods a bit. No question of re homing the solo puppy.
