I am posting this to clear up some misconceptions that people expressed in e-mails to me.
Neither Marjolein nor I are paid to keep this board running. It is not our "job"(as in being paid to do it). We do it solely to provide a forum for Weimaraner owners to meet, exchange conversation and ideas, and promote the betterment of the breed.
We allow litter announcements by members because we feel that prospective buyers need a place to find quality puppies. We do not charge for this. The main expense of the board is paid for by the advertising banners placed here by Pro-Boards. Clicking through to the ads occasionally supports the framework that maintains the board but does not pay us anything. Any other expenses associated with the board are paid for out of pocket by Irena and I.
We make no guarantees about puppies advertised by breeders, concerning either health or suitability of purpose-this is entirely between the breeder and the buyer.
I would like to see more people participating--would everyone do me a favor and ask two people whom you think would enjoy the board to check it out and join in. Of coarse, those who show and work their dogs are welcome, but don't forget that people who love and enjoy Weimaraners as pets and companions are also very welcome, or even just have an interest in the breed---they may also become Weim owners one day and maybe we can help them be better owners when they do.

Hi Fred, I would be surprised to hear that anyone would question the moderators of a forum like this. Never occurred to me that anything posted here or any of the maintaining of this forum was anything but people with a common interest and love of Weims! Good work to those who keep it running.

Haven't been on much recently but have to say the thought that either of you would be doing this for anything other than the love of the breed has never entered my head. You're doing a brilliant job bringing like minded people together from all around the world ... long may it continue.

I think you guys all do a fantastic job, it is suprising how many people out there are so cynical about peoples motives Running a board isn't easy and is more often than not a thankless task, you can never please everyone! I wish I had more time to contribute to this board but I do enjoy reading peoples posts.

I found this site quite by chance last year when looking for more information on the weimaraner breed. I fall under the category of "non-hunter, non-exhibitor, non-breeder", i.e., just a regular weim lover and hopefully a good weim owner. Since I joined, I have found this forum an invaluable source of information, advice and guidance, especially as I'm a first time weim-parent ( I could write "owner" again but hey, who am I kidding...). On a lighter note, I relish in the stories, pictures and anecdotes we exchange and can only be truly understood by other Weim-lovers. I think the moderators of the forum do a great job and I heartily thank them for it. It never occurred to me that they would have any otehr motivation than love of the breed and a desire to create a place for like-minded people to share their thoughts and doubts. All the categories and topics of the forum seem natural and suitable to me: puppy enquiries, stud services, docking, feeding, grooming, toys, obedience, etc, are all part of the Weim universe, I think. What some of the cynics out there have to remember is that for every seasoned Weim breeder/expert there are at least 10 (thousand) neophites who will welcome the advice, no matter how simplistic or basic it will seem.

Personally I find it quite refreshing that litters can be posted about. It is a tremendous help to get to know people and understand how they breed, on which lines and also to get to know a bit more about them.

Well I haven't done any invitations yet Fred but I will do ;D. Funny the membership is increasing all by itself at the moment. Word gets around quickly in the Weim world. I agree, running a board is a thankless task, I know as I am admin on one of my own for our timeshare property. It is a lot quieter than this and obviusly for members only although everyday some porn site or other tries to slip through so it needs constant logging. Rute, I love your post and you are quiet right. When I got my first weim I wanted to read all I could about them. Not everybody likes to participate in forums but the wealth of knowledge they can glean from them is fantastic. What I like most about this forum is that it is not censored and we are not made to feel like naughty little school girls and boys for posting our views which, as we all know, can get quite passionate when we are defending our breed. Job well done guys - say no more.

Keep up the good work. This forum is very interesting not only for first time pet owners, but for show exhibitors and breeders alike. It is lovely that people can post litter news on here as well. Also that they are allowed to put their affix to their name so people can see who they are talking too. I was surprised to read anyone could question whats going on the site. Just keep up the good work. Rachel

I am really impressed.
I really do not understand why other forums are so much against us speaking about our litters.
Logically, these forums should be the places to come to to seek a well bred puppy?
I am a small time breeder, but I am so proud of all the puppies that I have bred and ofmy friendship and relationship with their owners. We have been to 4 weddings so far, and still counting!!
I have never understood why not talking about responsible breeding is taboo on other sites.
Keep up the good work, guys.
