Sadly passed away by a tragic accident on Oktober the 7th. He was a phenomenon in the Weim world, all over the world. It was him, who wrote the FCI breed standard for our breed. He wrote a book too, "Weimaraner Heute", a must have I think. He was a judge too, and judged on our last clubmatch. May he rest in peace!!!

That was very sad to hear. Dr Werner Petri was supposed to judge in Norway next year and I was looking forward to that allot. I've heard so much about him. May he rest in peace.

When Dr Petri judged in New Zealand years ago he and wife Ute stayed at my house. He was a lovely man and so passionate about our breed. He opened our Kiwi eyes to alot in terms of excellence. He pretty much pointed us in the direction we are going today as we were at a cross roads at that stage. RIP Dr Petri.

Cyd I totally agree with you. In the short time that Petri and Ute were in New Zealand they certainly made many friends. I will always regard going Reserve In Show with Aust/NZ Gr Ch Bromhund Ellice (QC) and being awarded Excellent as being my finest win. The field trial that was run on the Sunday was everybit as exciting. The experience of meeting them is one to be cherished. May he RIP.

I came on this topic accidentally. This is so sad to hear. I read his book "Weimaraner Voran" and I was thrilled about the way he wrote. I learnd a lot about weims through Dr. W.Petri What happened? Was he ill? This is so sad to hear.
