It is with great sadness that I write to say our boy Bailey is gone.
His stomach problems just didn't seem to be clearing up and he was losing weight. The vet decided to operate on him and discovered a large tumour which could not be removed. We made the decision to put him to sleep before he recovered from the anaesethic.
Bailey's quality of life, over the past few weeks, was not good and now he will suffer no more pain.
He was the lovliest, kindest dog with the sweetest of natures. All in all a terrific Fonseca dog.
He will forever be in our hearts.
RIP Bailey
Love and kisses

I'm sorry to hear about Bailey, I know you will miss him, but it will always be fondly. I know how you feel, and you have my sympathy.

Dear Tara,
I am so sorry for your loss. Words are never enough to help you through this awful time. My thoughts are with you and Bailey. He is running free now, with no pain.
I will light a candle for Bailey tonight.
With love, Christina

Can someone please tell me when the hurt goes away. I feel so lost. He was my best friend, who I talked to as a person and I always felt safe when he was around. I am on my own most of the time as my husband works in the Middle East. Bailey was my protector and it was me that was with him the whole ten years of his life, right from the time when we got him at seven weeks old. I don't have his knowing, intelligent face looking at me this morning now. I don't have my shadow following me around the house. He always wanted to be where I was. We have thick snow this morning and he is not here to run around the garden and trail his big wet dirty paws all over the place. God I wish those paw prints were here this morning.

The feeling of raw pain will lessen, Tara. A month ago I was feeling the same as you, and just thinking of what you are going through right now brings back the thoughts of despair, helplessness and disbelief and loneliness. I think all of us who have lost a beloved pet will remember....
We all work through grief in a different way. It helped me a great deal to talk about Thomas, to write about him, to put in words what I felt and to just let the tear flow. I wish I could say or do something to help you, but only time will do this.
I am thinking of you. Christina xx

Tara, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious boy, Bailey. I too lost my boy, Hobbes, on January 30. I was feeling the same as you, very lost. He always made me feel safe and was the "protector" of the house. I can tell you that it will get better. I know it's hard to imagine that now, but as time passes you will be able to remember the good times you had with him. I'm sure that he's made a new friend now with Hobbes and other Weims. and they're playing and having a grand time. Like Christina said, it also helped me to get past the heartache by talking about it. I felt like the more I kept it in, the more I was upset. I still think of him everyday and yes a tear or two occasionally comes, but I know he's not suffering and he's in a safe place. Peace be with you and I hope you are smiling again soon. -Stacy

dear tara we are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts are with you in this difficult time. It is maybe a small consolation for you right now, but just think of the pain your dear bailey was spared. I am sure that all our lost 4-legged companions are in their own special heaven, safe from pain and harm. Bailey is up there leading the pack. Very best wishes rute, miguel and iago

It hurts like hell Tara. Just when you think you can talk about them without crying it sneaks up on you again. Our house was empty for a month. One day I couldn't face even thinking of getting another and the next day I was on the phone to rescue. Thank goodness I did. Life is worth living again and the last 3 months has been wonderful and so fullfulling.
Just cherish your memories for now and have a good cry when you feel like it. Bailey is young and well again and will feel the wind in his face as he rushes around playfully at Rainbow Bridge. Abbie and all the others will take care of him now.
