We are going to collect a new puppy in three weeks time. She was "rescued" from a pet shop. Her and her litter mates were crammed into a cage far too small and were in there own faeses and urine! Some ex pats that run a rescue society out here clubbed together and bought the dogs. The others have been placed but as noone suitable had come forward she was destined to be shipped over the US to a rescue centre there to be rehoused. I feel very privilidged to be able to adopt her and she is coming to live with us on 2nd August. I can't collect her before then as I have to wait for the paperwork to be processed to bring her over the causeway as she is in a foster home in Bahrain at present. I am so excited she is beautiful. She is a six month old Saluki and we have decided to name her Stella. www.dogbreedinfo.com/saluki.htmHere is a picture of her in her foster home. She is the one to the front of the picture. I will post some more once she has settled.

OMG you did it. Well done you and I hope Eric will love his new girlfriend and lifelong friend. She looks lovely - get ready with the Bach Flower remedy (Walnut) for both dogs. You can start Eric on his a bit earlier.
I just realised you got another female in the house at last - yipeeeee.

She looks lovely, give her a big hug from us all when you get her... The Saluki is another 'royal' breed too isn't it?
Great pics too Ania.. Cisa is certainly helping to show just how well these 2 breeds can get on.

I bet they make a great hunting team. They are a lovely combination and look stunning together. It will be nice for Eric to have a live in companion. I think it will be hard work initially juggling the exercise needs of the two until the little girls joints develop but worth it in the end. I am just so excited..........only 17 more days to go until we collect her but who's countin

Kags, you sound just like me when I was waiting for Louis' arrival here.
For the first time in my adult life had I been without a Weim for nearly 1 year. I could not bear the emptyness in the house after Oscar left us so suddenly at such a young age. Anticipation is one of the nicest things - every day you wake up feeling happy as it is another day closer to the 'big day' :-) :-)

Congrats to you Kags! The pics are lovely of her. I have never seen a saluki before, what kind of history do they have. She looks like a mix of an italian greyhound and a small white dobie. Ania, you always come along with some great photos! Thanks for sharing! jai and falko

The Saluki is thought to be one of the most ancieint breeds. I have attached a couple of links for info. www.salukiclub.org/PublicEd/History.htmlwww.dogbreedinfo.com/saluki.htmThey look a bit like short haired Afghans. I am very excited only 8 days to go now until we collect her. She had a bit of a traumatic experince recently. One of the dogs she was being sheltered with bit her midway up her tail. She has been put in a safe place in the house now. She was taken to the vets and for a time we did not know if she would lose her tail. Thankfully it seems to be healing well and has remained pink and warm so with a bit of luck it will continue to do so. There was a risk of it turning gangrenous Her papers should almost be ready and then she can be brought over the causeway for us to collect her and she can start her new life here with us.

Kags, that is a great choice! I adore Salukis as they are so elegant and gentle. One of my friends is Saluki breeder and I found out how great character they have. And my weimy likes them a lot. Expecially when they run he likes to join and this is great to watch. And I must say you must be a great person to rescue a dog. Well done Kags and I wish you many nice moments in the weim-saluki company. Looking forward to receive some pics when she arrive!
Greetings from Slovenija, Nina

FINALLY, Stella's paperwork is complete and she is being driven across the causeway at 8am tomorrow! She will be staying in Khobar for the night and then we drive there on Thursday morning first thing to collect her. She has quite a long journey to make to get here, it is a 4 hour drive from here to Khobar so a very long day for us but I am so excited to finally be going to meet her and bring her home. Her tail has healed which is very good news. I will of course post some piccies of her and Eric once she is settled.
