A few weeks ago, I saw an item about a litter in the USA in which were born several "white" puppies. The latest about this I saw on: www.tucson.com/classifieds/index.php?page=20&action=category_search@cat_id=4070They are five weeks now, could not see their eyes properly if they are really albino Weimaraner. But now we have the ordinary "grey" Weimaraner, the "blue"Weimaraner, the "white" Weimaraner and the Weimardoodle. So make your pick.

I couldn't see the ads but to be honest I'd want none of those and sad to say if they had been bred by me they would be going in one of two ways... the nearest bucket or neutered and given away to pet homes without papers, the sire and dam would then face the same fate.

WOW, that's weerd. I don't think they are albino's. Because albino's have always red eyes, but can't see if they are red ...

That is weird indeed ! I've never seen a white weimaraner - however 'mother nature' has strange ways and almost every species produces albino individuals.....

This link has been making the rounds on several Weim groups. I have seen photos of white/creme Weims over the years. Those interested in coat color genetics may be interested in Sheila Schmutz's site homepage.usask.ca/~schmutz/white.html. If some Weims were to be carrying the recessive "e" gene, then it would be entirely possible for e/e individuals be white. Interestingly on Schumutz's site, there are pictures of a litter of fawn Akitas (fawn of course being the same color as Weim gray) and one white littermate. They know this happened due to the e/e gene. I found the photo on the bottom of her page on white and albinism of the white wolf interesting. The hairs underneath show that they are agouti -- just like Weims! Genetic mutations happen, and so does cross breeding (on the sly or on purpose). I don't think we should all be that terribly shocked. I think most breeders have had various surprises in their litters, not just coat color and unfortunately sometimes its disease, in fact most often it's NOT coat color. Coat color is just an obvious one. Oh, and albino individuals (animals or humans) do NOT always have red eyes. That is a myth. Anne (who is not defending or even knows anything about the litter in the link, just has an interest in coat color genetics)

Hmm,.... Not sure about this one, Anne
Albinisme is missing of the pigment "melanine" in skin or hair... If you see a litter of rabbits for example, you can have perfectly white ones with dark eyes, this doesn't mean that they are albino's. The ones with red eyes are. You have degrees of albinisme.. Some rabbits are that bad, that their pupils are just white, in fact the whole eye, so this poor creatures, can't live a propar live because they are almost or total blind. Most albino's have eyesproblems... You also have this condition on humans. You can have people with white skin and white hair, but they still have "some" pigments... That doesn't mean they are albino's. The albino's have pure white hair, white skin, white eyebrows, white lashes, and very very light eyes, red or pink... Spooky !! All albino's have the same problem, the sun.... They must be sooo careful of burning.... Because they don't have melanine, they can't get tan, but they only will burn....
About this litter, probably nature has involved.... ;D Very unusual....

I still can't see the picture it just comes up with an ad for one silver weim male. I have seen some photo's of weims with very poor markings but that is not the standard and neither should it be bred from. It is only a personal view but if you know that two dogs are producing these type of marked puppies. I wouldn't want any future puppies to breed so neutering is a guarantee of that otherwise there is always someone that is prepared to produce 'rare' puppies for the cash.

OK, that is just ODD!!! Wow...what is mother nature trying to tell us? I would seriously look into the genetics of the breeding (if it was a line breed - how close was it?). As a breeder myself, I would be getting in touch with as many people as possible in the pedigree line and see if this has ever happened before or about any other issues with breedings!
Just way to weird!

New Member here... My husband and I are Americans living in Sicily Italy. We're the proud new owners of Anastasia (Ana) a 2 year old abandoned albino Weim. She is extremely emaciated but has a very healthy appetite and calm disposition. She is blind in her right eye due to over exposure in the miserable Sicilian August heat. She has a professionally docked tail and has possibly had a litter in the last year. I suspect she is in the first stages of heat as we speak. We believe that she was breed b/c of her albino anomaly then abandoned after having a standard litter, as a Weim in Sicily is very rare indeed let alone an albino Weim.
Based on her health cert from the Vet she is a Leish carrier. We will be starting the treatment phase with her to protect ourselves and other dog "Jack". I have questions about the Weim breed and about the proper way to care for a rescued Weim. Also, as I've only ever cared for males dogs any information having a female would be great as well. Any help I can get through this forum will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance- Meagan and Ana
