Well, Quentin finally arrived!!!!
He didn't like the flight (3hrs) and didn't want to come out of his crate. He also didn't want to know me but the Lab who flew with him. He absolutely refused to walk on the leash and also didn't want to drink any water. After I finally secured him in the car and we drove off he cried a lot and then managed to get over the back seat row. But as the seat belt isn't long enough he was hanging, so I had to pull over on the busy highway at peak hour traffic. I then put him in the feet area in the back row and he slept.
We've got to the Vet and he's got checked out and he was fine! I then left him there to pick up Hera and he cried. When we introduced them Hera wasn't too impressed. She growled at him. But I didn't expect anything different. She needs some time to adjust to the situation. We then went home and I kept Hera inside while Quentin explored the backyard and then swap. Except for his constant crying (even when he's with me) he's fine. He had some dinner, a drink and went to the toilet outside. But he absolutely hates his kennel. I put him in there, waited until he was asleep and then closed the door. He was carrying on like crazy and tried the stick his head thru the wire on the bottom where it is wider and he succeeded with that!
We played a bit with his duck and now he's sitting on my feet. I have to do some cleaning up and then I will play some more with him before I give him his supper and then take him to bed after he's been to the toilet. Let's hope the neighbours don't mind....
Tomorrow is another day and it will be easier for him.
BUT he's absolutely gorgeous! Unfortunately he doesn't have blue eyes anymore but he looks perfect! He has an adorable nature and I noticed that he doesn't go toward Hera anymore after she growled at him. But I still can see her showing her teeth even when he's not near her just sniffing at some stuff. I separated the toys so she can keep hers and I really hope she eventually will get over it.
The first night wasn't too bad! When I locked him in the crate he was crying and carrying on but as soon as I turned all the lights off he settled down and went to sleep. Both Quentin and Hera slept in the same room. At 3.30 am he woke me up and I took him outside and yes, he needed to go to the toilet. We played for about 30 mins and then I locked him up again. He cried for about 20 mins and went to sleep. He slept until I got up this morning and I took him outside by himself straight away while I was getting ready to take Hera for a walk.
Then I rested him while I feeding the birds and Hera. Then I took Hera outside (they get feed inside) and got Quentin in to feed him. Then I took him outside and left him there with Hera and he stooped whining fairly quickly. When I got out Hera showed her toys off and when Quentin approached her she bite him in this muzzle (no blood). Will be a while until the 2 get used to each other. They're both inside now - Quentin in his crate (door open) and Hera hiding in the study. Curious how they will go within the next week. I hope they get along and like each other eventually.
I still cannot believe how much he has grown in the last few weeks! He'll be one big boy! And he's so adorable!
Quentin slept most of the Wednesday and I had friends over to help me installing my rainwater tank. He didn't make a noise when I took Hera for her walk and left him all by himself.
The night was good again. He slept from 10pm - 5.30 am. No accidents in the house yet!
Thursday I took him to work. He slept the hours driving and enjoyed all the attention at work. In the afternoon he met my partner who isn't a dog fan but he fell in love with Quentin anyway. H played in the garden a lot Hera's getting slightly better.
Quentin looks absolutely beautiful and has a wonderful nature. He's very investigative and loves retrieving. He already know his names and when I say 'come' he runs with his ears flying. He will become a great gundog in all aspects and I love him to bits! Just hope Hera will feel that way too eventually.
This morning I'll put both downstairs to play (after their breakkie and a sleep) and he walked all the stairs up by himself as I found him upstairs and I normally carry him up and down the stairs. Next to Hera, he's the best thing ever happened to me!
