Both my weims have a problem.... well ok may be more than one problem however one that really bothers me is that they are VERY, VERY PERSISTANT on trying to eat my food. I have basically tried everything. They will not learn that they cannot beg or even jump up and take food. I DO NOT feed them from the table and what not but they still feel the urge that they want my food. Please help.....

Teach them to go to their beds and stay there.

Try this for a little while. Put down a couple of throw rugs across from the table where you regularly eat where the dogs will be in plain sight. You can watch them and they can watch you. Put them in a down on their rugs before you bring your food to the table. Do NOT repeat commands over and over, ONE time only! If they stay on their rug, YOU get up and take a treat to them. If they get up and come over to bug you, do not scold them, simply take them and put them in another room and close the door--if they whine or scratch at the door, put them outside. It is best to start out with some kind of snack that is bite size and can easily be re-heated in the microwave if it gets cold---pizza rolls maybe, or something that doesn't need heating, like cheese cubes and sausage cubes. Your goal is to give ONE command and ONE command only. Keep your voice and demeanor calm and low key. Like a game, if you follow the rules and stay on your rug, you get treats---if you don't stay on your rug, you are out of the game and cann't get any treats. I think you'll be surprised at how quickly they wll catch on and play the game. Once you have them responding reliably, you can start extending the times gradually. The idea at this stage is, a couple of treats before you sit down to eat---then no treats while you eat, and they get treats when you are finished and cleaning up as long as they are on their rug. It usually doesn't take too long before you couldn't blast them off of their rugs with dynamite.
