Yes the lower obedience tests (elementary and specials) are easy but they are designed to be in the hope the sport will hook more domestic handlers and dogs into the competition world. Novice is very hard as the entry numbers are so high ... you can go un placed easily if you loose more than 2 marks (which is pretty easy to do - ie if dog takes it's head off your thigh it gets 1/2 mark off for a 'wide', if it 'skittles the dumbel (a thing boarder collies seem to like to do) there goes another 1/2 mark, if the dog sits croocked slightly (very easy to see in the long bodied short coated dog there goes your next 1/2....) I don't think the higher tests are easy here because of the quality of dogs. Watching test c dogs is something to really aspire to as they are so in tune with the handler with such intense looks of concentration on their face. To get a dog working well in the higher tests is difficult. I think working trials is easier as weims have an advantage with their noses!! There is more variation in exercises so training is funner and the heel work doesn't have to be quite so precise as the obedience ring stuff. I really enjoy doing both but they are very different!! But thats just how i find it... Id love to see videos.. photos as it's quite intereting how different other countries do things. And of course i love to hear about other greys in the ring!!
