Hi On a weekend Uoga had her first tracking lesson and experience, it was for young dogs that did tracking for the first time. There were 6 young dogs, owners and our trainer G. Jefremovas, he is FT judge. As it was snow around, we didn't used blood, we just dragged fresh roe fur. I had seen this way of tracking for the first time. I don't know if we did it right, teaching dogs track on a snow, maybe someone could comment is this way of tracking good? As we got whole roe fur for our own training, so don't know if it is good to practice with it? The track was about 400-450m and on the end of it the fur was hidden. Every dog had his own track, and only one dog was following one track. Well Uoga did it just fine, she was following a track correct, just don't know if she understood what was she doing The main our problem, that at the end of the track dog mast bark on the fur and Uoga is not barking at all, only a few times we heard her voice, and have no idea how to teach her barking, if she doesn't bark at all... Strange dog... Some photos G. Jefremov teaching us how we should control the dog when tracking Uoga And a few short movies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1RztbXm7c4www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF3e7sfUvF8

Great photos Jurate! That sounds very interesting to track with Fur. I didn't know that the dog needs to bark to signal that he has found something. Falko does not bark either.. The vet told me that barking is a learned behavior, and that to teach him he needs to hear it from other dogs. So far he is very silent. only hear his voice in a whine when he is left alone or put in his crate. jai

Don't worry too much she will pick it up just fine. She is still only young, barking comes with confidence in a lot of Weimaraner bitches. Lovely photos Jurate. Her Dad is a really good working gundog and her Mum is pretty good at tracking so she has it in her genes. Cheers, Liz.

Just teach her to bark. I don't know much Weims that bark naturally once they find the end of the track. Tease her a bit, play with her, until she barks. Give a cue immediatly and reward. All my dogs bark on command, tought that way.

Thanks for advises! I will keep trying to make her bark... As till date all my attempts were unsuccessful. She has some switch, when I tease her, she gets more and more exciting, and then just puf, and she runs to my with her piggy pink years to give some kisses... And all teasing is over...
