Does anyone know the best way for me to source deerblood in the uk? I know we have such weird rules about meat and sourcing the bits for non-human consumption can be difficult.

Well Sue, this is what I use and what my trainer uses as well: . This is freeze dried blood and works wonders. Not sure if it's available in the UK though.

errr... me ;D
If you can find out locally who shoots deer for the police that get run over on the road then thats a good option or the local deer stalker (you can find them going via the deer society or the BASC), put an add on NOBs website or find your local butcher that sells game and ask them very nicely.
I get loads of the stuff so usually have some in my freezer I can share.

Thanks Tasha, I know I could ask you ...... again but thought I should also look to see if I could figure out how to get stuff locally.
Mar that looks interesting, going to try and translate the web page and see if I can get some sent over here as it would make storage etc much easier.
The Brittany Club is looking to possibly try some different disciplines here and we are trying to get as much info as possible and then maybe use Mugi as a guinea pig. I know welsh springers like blood tracking as Freddy so showed up his DEERHOUND brother when you came over!!

have to say its difficult to persuade a stalker to take the blood out because they have to get it hooked up nearly as soon as its killed and drain it otherwise it congeals and is a pain to get out, you also have to sieve out all the rubbish thats in it, took me three hours to get the last lot but we did ok out of it because it got shared between three of us. Freeze dried stuff certainly looks interesting might get some myself that way need only do the odd one here and there where all the parts come from the same deer

Marco van Turnhout sells it Dorit, member of the hunting dog committee of the Dutch Weim Club. Not sure if you know him, but he can be found here: www.gundog.nl/

I could buy it in Germany finally and we are practicing!
Do you know if you can freeze it if you have prepares too much of it? Or better use always fresh one?

I'm not sure, but I don't think it;s a problem to freeze it again. Saw it in Dortmund as well!
