OK, I can't be the only one on the list doing Agility. Who's doing Agility with their Weim's? How's it going? Any photo's? We're still in training for Agility. Ellie's done 2 competitions, but it was a bit too early. I'm going to concentrate on her training for a while longer. Even though she can do all the obstacles, she needs more practice to gain more confidence and more importantly for me to get better. LOL Here's a link to a photo of her jumping: www.greendolphin.com/us/agility/agility.htmlLeslie

Fantastic pic Leslie!!! I used to do agility with one of my Weims and with the Leonberger. Pien, the Leo, did great, but was very slow, hehehe. Mowgli on the other hand was very good at this. She is so supple and fast, amazing. Way too fast for me, LOL!!! Unfortunately I got into a huge argument with the trainer and left. He wanted me to shout at my dog, so she'd understand what I meant. I refused to do this and gave my commands loud enough so she could hear them. A shame it had to end like this, because we had great fun doing it.

Ellie is very fast as well. I have a tendancy to be too slow as well, but we're working on it. Plus working on having her work away so I can give commands at a distance.
That's too bad about the trainer. Good that you stood up for what you believe though. I once walked out of an Obedience class whose trainer was trying to force me do something I didn't think was right for us.
I'm having a problem with my club now too. The people are all very nice and I like them and the equipment and space is nice, but the classes just aren't very good. When I was in San Francisco, they have such fantastic trainers and classes. Ellie was enthusiastic and doing really well, but this class just isn't right for us. I'm afraid I'm going to sour her to Agility if I continue to take it. I'm looking for a new class and in the meantime I'm training on our own. We go out to the backyard everyday for a little training.

Yes, my plans as well. Since I'm too busy hunting and trialing, I just don't have the time to travel far. That's why I asked my brother-in-law to make me agility equipment!!! Can't wait till he's done!!!

There is a guy at my obedience club who has, what is considered here, a working border collie. They are short coated, but at least are black and white! He is working on being able to basically stand in the middle and direct her. He figures he is too lazy for all this running, so this is his way around it. She works very well, too! It is amazing to watch. Wendy

Duncan and I used to compete in the UK with our older 2 weims. There is an agility league that is run in the UK for Weims doing agility - in its first year I was 5th place I think with Amber, and Dunc was 6th or 7th (from about 25 dogs). I was given an award for most improved handler with Amber from our local agility club, so dread to think what I was like at first hehe. What I like about agility is that despite the sound of it, ANYONE can have a go, old young, large or small..... there is even a disabled man doing it in his wheelchair in the UK (but he has minis).

Solli and Whisper both go to classes. Solli is great big goofball and just wants to have fun. Whisper is calmer and more focussed although he does have his moments - ran under all the jumps one day when he was bored and he won't go near the dog walk since he hurt himself on it some months ago. Great fun and lovely to do something with them that they so obviously enjoy.

Whisper - what a great name! There is an Australian song that was released in the 70's - Stares and Whispers. That would be a good call name if I ever use that one. Wendy
