Thanks!! I had my first lesson yesterday! It was great Emmy did so much better than I thought she would! I didn't have alot of faith as she never used to enjoy obedience classes But agility is definately her thing Even the trainer said she was a natural! It's really given her confidence and she even went through the weave poles like she has done it all her life!! I'm so pleased with her, now I have hubby making me some jumps for the garden Hope you get on o.k, let me know how you did

Oops, I promised to report tomorrow..... Shame on me. Anyway, we had a great evening. I was handling Mowgli and she was so happy that she could jump again. In fact, she was a bit too happy and it was not easy to guide her. I really have to work on my handling skills here. She's just too fast to mess about with. Daantje was handled by my best friend. It was the first time for Daan. She did quite well I have to say. She did the A-frame, see-saw, dog walk and the table. At first she didn't understand what we wanted from her with the jumps and she just ran underneath the bar. With a little help from a cookie and a lower bar, she did it without a problem!!! We had a great eve!!!! Rute, I don't really know what age you can start with it. That depends a bit on the school you're going to. I know some schools start as early as 5 months (nothing serious though of course), others wait until the dog is at least 12 months. I don't think it's a problem to start early, as long as you keep it simple and don't ask too much of the dogs joints.

Ha Ha! Thats ok Marjolein, I forgive you Glad you had a good time! Unfortunately Emmy has now injured herself and had to go and have stitches under her arm so we have to lay off agility for a while Don't even ask how she did it because I don't know myself! We took her for a walk and when she got home and I was giving her tummy a rub, I noticed a great big tear under her arm She is all stitched up now and doing fine, so we just need to keep her under a close eye so the stitches don't fall out!! Hi rute_paredes, mine is nearly two but I think the safest age clubs take them is 12 months. There are some that do younger but as Marjolein says, it's nothing to strenuous. It's great fun though!!

We had our second class tonight and I am so pleased with my girls. This time my best friend Meike was handling Mowgli and I did Daan. Mowgli did a fantastic job and in the end she even did the complete course, the last time without one single failure (despite handling skills of handler, LOL). Daan made me proud too, since it was only her second time. She did everything I asked for. Even the poles. After like 45 minutes she was knackered though. Not physical, but mental. After that we let the puppies play again. They did the dog walk this time and the tunnel again. These little things aren't afraid of anything. Of course I'm biased, I bred them, but their characters are absolutely fantastic!!!! Roll on next Thursday!

Agility is great fun as you've discovered Lisa. Pleased to hear Emmy has healed well and that you can get back to training soon.
Solli and Whisper love going to classes. They have very different approaches to agility, Solli has great fun charging at everything and then racing back to let me know how clever he is - almost knocked me out one week! Whisper is much calmer and more focussed. Mariy

Just remember to be patient with Agility. It takes time - so have fun at it. Even once you think they've got it down, you sometimes have to go through another stage. Ellie will sometimes nail a complicated course so fast and clean that I think, man we've got it! Then next run she acts like she's never seen an agility obstacle in her life! I was very embarrassed at one of our first matches - it was an easy novice course that I was confident we would run clean. Ellie acted like she'd never seen an Agility course before! Good lesson to me not to have too much pride tied up in the outcome and to just be there for her and try to have fun. :-)
