Well, I'd say this is somewhat above level. This is perfectly acceptable in Holland. Cannot remind what she was pointing here, but from the look on her face it was a hare, LOL!!!
What they don't want to see in Holland, is a dog pointing hare of a warm spot. The only thing they want them to do, is point feathered game. When a dog points a hare or warm spot once, it shouldn't really be a problem, but if it happens more often, a dog can be excluded from the trial.

For US pointing dogs, the terminology we use for tails on point is based on a clock - 12:00 being straight up and 9:00 being level. If the tail goes past the vertical and loops toward the back that is heavily faulted as a gay tail. Its true that American Field Pointers & Eng. Setters are expected to point with their tail straight up. This is also somewhat true for GSPs although less so than for the long tailed breeds. In AKC it is less important although most do appreciate a 12:00 tail on a long tailed breed. Weimaraners are not expect to point with that kind of tail and I have very rarely seen it. Most field Weims point with a tail at about 10:00 - 10:30 and I've seen a dog win the Nat'l with a 9:00 tail.

With the goldens tails smacking me in the face so many times, definately love docked...long or short hair, docked never blinds you as you are in the middle of something...

I live in the US and the standard is DOCKED. I have only seen pictures of Weims with undocked tails. I will say that it is a different look! I also breed my weim and with the pups I do dock the tails. I do not like it when the little pups yelp out...but momma takes care of them and they probably don't even remember anyhow!
I also like the longer docked tails! I have seen some that have been docked short or too short and I think it looks bad! I like to hunt my dogs and the slightly longer docked tail looks EXCELLENT in the field! Especially when she gets all excitied it spins in a circle!!! hahaha so cute!

I have had both docked and undocked weims and I have to say I prefer them to be UNDOCKED, I love thier tails. My undocked weim had far better balance than the docked weim and could turn quicker even though he was a far sturdier dog. No thier tails were put thier for a reason I like them.
