Yes Béné we actually thought of having it for Christmas haha, These roosters are very difficult to hunt with pointing dogs (they are rare and very shy), so only to eat on a special occasion :-) It has been over three years since i saw a woodcock up here so I hope you have more luck with them...

We have loads and loads of woodcock on "our" hunt. You can't shoot them unfortunately, it's forbidden. My dogs point them though and retrieve them as well if they find one dead.

In latter case you still could eat them, LOL!!! ... yes, for me the same box as for Peter, please!!! Must be exiting anyway! We have seen just once a woodcock in Germany at my parents place. I remember that I was wondering in the first place why Cummel pointed because we never see any other small game over there. Too many foxes!

They lay dead-ish but are still eatable, lol!!! Anyone here has a good recipe? I've got a couple of these birds in my freezer.

WOW, it has all rights to be here in my opinion, thanks for sharing! Of course, we can always open a new post "game pics" or something like that.
... unfortunately no recipe for your woodcocks... sure Mr. Google can help!
